Jeanne Stickley, mother of George, Sylvia and Gene, Jr., began life as Elizabeth Jeanne Ball, second child of Rashleigh and Collette (Schulte) Ball.

Rashleigh was born in Cornwall at the southwest corner of England. His mother brought him to America in 1913 after father, Charles Ball, had secured work in South Dakota.
