Gene & Kara August 2004.
To start the new year right, on January 1, 2005 our youngest, Gene, Jr., asked Kara Dougherty of West Chester to be his wife. Kara accepted. So Gene is a step closer to being a solid, settled citizen.
Jeanne and I are very pleased with Gene's choice. We are anxious for everyone to get to know Kara in the days ahead.
At last report the couple were planning a wedding in early December.
Kara seems to be one of those people who take drawing seriously. She was a graphic designer, display and creative manager, with Polo Ralph Lauren for 8 years. She attended the Hussian School of Art in Phila where, I understand, they take their drawing quite seriously.
But Kara has wide interests. She is currently an instructor for DPT Business School in Phila. She explained to me that "I teach an entire comprehensive 'career path' Massage Therapy program that includes basic business & marketing, keyboarding & MS Office, Anatomy & Physiology, Massage Therapy, etc." She is a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist and, in addition to teaching, she is Assistant Director of a Spa.
She loves travel, the outdoors and, of course, both viewing and creating art. Her loves include music (except country). She sounds like an easy mark for birthday gifts, etc.
Currently Gene and Kara are planning a wedding at St. Thomas of Villanova but a firm date has not yet been established. Her parents were married in the same Church 35 years ago. Maybe we are establishing a tradition?
