Joseph and Elizabeth are Collette's parents. This couple had 9 children, 7 survived, among whom Collette was the youngest. (See Elizabeth above with her youngest child, Collette.)
Joseph was a farmer and apparently a successful farmer. He managed to send his oldest child, Edward, to Johns Hopkins Medical school. Edward became a successful doctor. Joseph bought farms for his other two boys Emil and Joseph.
Joseph was born in Germany. His parents, Karl-Joseph and Louise, emigrated to the US about 1880. There will be more on Karl and Louise in later editions.
