Amandus to Armond

return to Our Stickley Line

Amandus Stuckle

Armond Stickley was the German immigrant who brought his branch of the family to America. My genealogy info indicates that Armond came to America from Le Harve, France in May of 1854. He was born, Amandus Stuckle, at Orschweier, Baden, Germany on November 20, 1830.

Helen (Murphy) Stickley's comments on the Stickley family

I remeber Helen telling me that my father's name was George Phillips Stickley (Not Philip). Phillips, she said, was a family name. She also told me about the "Sterners" who were related to my father. Both of these names, Phillips and Sterner, appear in the genealogy information as you will see as the information unfolds on this website.

Armond George Stickley born January 3, 1879

Armond (on the left) was the father of George Phillips Stickley. George was the father of George F. Stickley, Eugene L. Stickley (me) and John A. Stickley. This photo was supplied by Alice Murphy McCann. Alice was Nick Murphy's daughter and the granddaughter of Armand Stickley. Nick is on the right in the photo with Armond. I have no idea whether or not not Nick was related to my maternal grandfather John P. Murphy.

There will be more info on Armond and his family in future editions of this "Our Stickley Line" page.

Armond George Stickley

Armond Stickley, my paternal grandfather, with Nick Murphy (in the straw hat). Nick was a son-in-law. Nick married Margaret Stickley, my father's (George P. Stickley) older sister. The picture was taken in 1923 in Wildwood hence the bathing outfits and the long handled net.
