My earliest known ancestor: Sebastian Stickle
The record shows that Sebastian Stickle died in 1770. He had married Dorothea Hammann in Baden, Germany. Sebastian and Dorothea had three boys, Johannes, Mathias and Johann Michael. Johann Michael is the great grandfather of Amandus Stuckle. Amandus emigrated to America in 1854 and became a citizen as Armond Stickley. Armond (Amandus) is my great great grandfather. My paternal grandfather is Armond George Stickley.

Stickley?
The record shows the earlier family with the surname Stickle. But the first American member Amandus and his family were surnamed Stuckle. In any case the American records have Amandus as Armond Stickley.
Stickley furniture connection?
Gustav Stickley, the most famous of the furniture Stickleys, was born to German immigrants who established a farm in Wisconsin. It is unlikely that their name had been Stickley in Germany. Is there a connection? The answer has to be "possibly". But, if so, it goes back before the families emigrated.
