Helen was Mom and the Family Cornerstone
George, Eugene (me) and John (Jack) were the children in a nuclear family. Helen and George P. were the parents. Our parents separated sometime during WWII. For the three boys Helen was home and family.
Helen in Pictures.
Born to be an entertainer
Helen had a gift for music. She loved the popular tunes of the '30's and 40's. She was a left hander and she played piano with a strong bass. She could read music but seldom used it. She would pick up a tune from the radio and start playing it, fully chorded, within minutes. I still remember the words to hundreds of songs of the period.
The Silver Dollar Girl
Later, as an adult, I learned that she had always wanted to be in show business. She got her wish much later in life as the Silver Dollar Girl.
Early Helen
Helen talked about her youth from time to time. I will relate these stories as they come to me. For now, if you haven't read it, see "Helen and Her Horse."
